Sustainable glossar
This is just an overview, but of course not complete. This topic is so huge and actually not possible to mention every fact.
Nature products are products which are naturally developed or in an original production were won without a change in there substaincial properties.
The united nations action plan for people, the planet and prosperity. The 2030 agenda was adopted at the summit on sustainable development on september 25, 2015. The goal of the agenda is to make the world more sustainable and to free humanity from poverty and heal the planet.
strong>The loss of biodiversity has reached alarming proportions in recent decades. Experts estimate that the extinction rate of animal and plant species is now, on average, a hundred to a thousand times higher than the rate that is normal in evolution. This worrying development must be counteracted! There are different possibilities and approaches.
Our partner nordwolle contributes to the preservation of biodiversity with its old sheep breeds. The sheeps take care of the landscape. A well-known example is the lüneburgerheide with its "heidschnuck sheep", which protect the area from bush encroachment.
The biodiversity is an assessment standard how many living beings are located in a given space.
The goal of climate change projects is to save carbondioxid for example by expansion of renewable energies.
If you want to get to know how we are handle our carbondioxid compensation you can go to our climate neutral page.
To be able to compare greenhouse gas emissions according to their global warming target, one takes other gases of the same amount .
All the greenhouse gases that are procued will be measured in tones per year.
It´s an rating from the procurement of materials to the production of the product under investigation without the period of use.
It´s an evaluation that takes into account the impact at each stage of the life of a product.
At the end of the 1990s, german chemist Michael Braungart and U.S. architect William McDonough joined forces and developed an innovative sustainable economic concept called cradle to cradle, or short c2c. They think not only from production to the consumer but beyond that. According to cradle to cradle, the ideal production process is a cycle in which no product gets lost. All materials should be reused without loss of quality
The goal of the paris climate agreement includes limiting global warming to 1 to 2 degrees .
The report is also called "Our Common Future".
Electricity is generated from various sources. The "energymix", shows how a region combines the different energy sources that are needed. This allows the greenhouse gas emission to be calculated.
Renewable energies can also be obtained from renewable resources. These renew themselves in a natural way.
Is it acceptable to ignore ethical principles for an affordable price of the clothing item. In our opinion definetly not.
Natural fuels such as oil, carbons formed from the natural remains of living organisms. The consumption of fuels goes much faster than they are extracted.
Greenhushing is the opposite of greenwashing. That means the company conceals information about there sustainabilty practicises. Most companies do not want to make themselves vulnerable when something goes wrong. As a result, consumers and stakeholders do not receive the latest information.
Deceptive marketing occurs when the company pretends to be more sustainable than it actually operates.
Ensure that everyone has equal access to opportunities and resources.
Innovations only result from ideas when they are implemented in new products, services or processes and when these are actually successfully applied and penetrate the market (Diffusion).
Net-zero-greenhouse gas emissions
Climate protection is a collective term to counteract the global warming caused by mankind and prevent or mitigate possible consequences.
Our ambitious goal is developing an entirely circular sneaker. Why ? Sustainable products still waste materials and fill up landfills. Circular products reuse recycled materials and are designed to recycle. No more waste. Much more comfort- for you and the environment. We design without compromise. And we focus on quality without compromise. Rest assued, 100% of our products are handmade in small, family-run workshops in Italy or in the north of Portugal. We know exactly who makes them. Fairly produced products with highest demands of craftsmanship.
Most sheep farmers do not keep their sheep to produce a certain product but to care for different natural areas. In mountainous areas, the sheep's small hooves compact the soil and make it less susceptible to erosion
A life cycle are successive phases of a product system, i.e. from raw material extraction to final disposal.
This is a procedure for determining the environmental impact of a product .
Renewable raw materials are not only used for food and feed products. Some renewable raw materials are Wood, vegetable oils, sugar.
Renewable raw materials are, for example, wood, vegetable oils, vegetable fibers, sugar or starch. These raw materials are used for energy and material applications for example for fuels, textile fibers, building materials, paper, lubricants, plastics or medicines.
Net-zero is reached when the amount of emissions is balanced by the amount removed from the atmosphere.
OECD is an abbreviation for economic cooperation and development. it provides companies with detailed recommendations on how to take human rights into account when making procurement and material decisions.
If an article is marked with the öko tex standard 100, it is guaranteed that the product has been tested for harmful substances, even the smallest details. This means that all threads, buttons and other accessories have been tested for harmful substances and the article is therefore harmless to health.
paris climate agreement is a legally binding treaty on climate change.
Plant-based leather alternative or also called vegan leather, completely dispenses with animal ingredients. Instead, plant-based substitutes are used. Plant-based substitutes such as pineapple fiber, grape pomace and palm leaves are used for this purpose. Vegan leather is therefore versatile and has a very good CO2 balance.
Regenerative agriculture involves using as much of nature as it is capable of giving without harming it in the process.
Sustainable development focuses on goals such as reducing poverty, improving health and education, and increasing economic growth.
We give a lot of our thoughts to sustainable development. We are concentrating on these points in particular:long lasting -> creating progress for mankind
circulation -> making the supply chain/value chain sustainable
CO2 reduction -> reduction of the environmental footprint.
This is mainly to support: health and well-being, affordable and clean energy, decent work and economic growth, industrie, innovation and infrastructure, sustainable consumption and production.
The slow fashion movement wants to achieve a higher appreciation of clothing. The goal is to use resources sparingly and to protect human rights. It forms the contrast to the fast fashion industry which includes cheap, fast moving clothes.
synthetic fibers are made from coal, natural gas or petroleum. The respective starting material is chemically synthesized and modified in such a way that threads can be drawn from it. These are refined and processed into textile fabrics. Synthetic fibers include fabrics such as polyester, polyamide or polyacril. These man-made fibers are found in many areas of everyday life. One of the biggest problems is microplastic, which is released from synthetic clothing with every wash cycle. These are the smallest particles that enter our soils and oceans through sewage treatment plants. Sea dwellers then take these small pieces for food and eat them. Many garments are made from mixed fibers, which means that the existing fabrics are spun from different yarns. The problem is that mixed fibers cannot be separated from each other and recycled after the wearing period, so they become textile waste that is often only burned CO2 intensively.
Disclosure of our policies, objectives, commitments, achievements and failures, and real impacts on employees, communities and the environment. Transparency should be seen as a tool for change only and not as an purpose in itself.
When sunlight hits the earth a part is reflected and the rest is converted into heat. Greenhouse gases absorb and reflect this heat. This prevents them from entering space. The result is constant warming of the planet.
These are the gases that contribute to global warming.
Vegans abstain from all foods of animal origin. Some also avoid other animal products and reject other forms of animal use.
For us, recyclable materials are those that can be used to produce new materials from waste or that can be repaired or recycled.
Circularity or circular economy is a concept for reducing a society's consumption of raw and their environmental impact. In a perfect circular economy there would be no more waste. All raw materials used could either be composted or reproceeded for the same or another product and recycled without loss.
